Ursula Nolting,

I stayed at Le Guet in May 2017 - it is absolutely charming! Myself and two other friends stayed for 3 nights and then two of us had it for 2 more nights. We all loved the village and the quaint house with its magnificent views from the top terrace - we had our breakfasts up there watching the river and the swallows. I had the room on the first floor and threw the windows open each morning - I really felt on holiday! The bathrooms are really modern and lovely and on the ground floor is a typical country French sitting and dining room with kitchen. We really didn't cook though as it was so much fun to go out and about.
There are many villages and towns close by - we visited Cessone, St Chinian for the Sunday market, Olargue, Carcassonne and Peyriac Minervois.
Would love to stay there again.

Christine Read,

Le Guet is a beautiful home with fantastic views from the enclosed balcony which opens from the upper bedroom. A great place to eat and enjoy the tranquility. Roquebrun is a lovely village with a wonderful river running through it. The area is fun to explore with much to see or just relax and enjoy. Le Guet is filled with beautiful original art and is perfect in every way. Gillian and Chris are a pleasure to work with.

We stayed in Le Guet in the fall and after exploring the area each day we spent every evening eating up in the greener looking out on the incredible view and watching the light fade from the valley! It is truly something you will always remember. Chris and Gillian were most helpful all along the way and the home is delightful, comfortable, and fully stocked with everything you might need - even the bathrooms are gorgeous!! They have put together a notebook with very thorough instructions about the house and ALL kinds of ideas of things to do in the area. Their reference library and maps were also a wonderful asset. We would unhesitatingly recommend this house and staying in Roquebrun.

We recently stayed at Le Guet for a relaxing girlie break. The house was just perfect - the décor throughout is beautiful, the views from the look out need to be seen to be believed, and Chris and Gillian have really thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
We were slightly worried about not having access to a hire car but were so pleased to find that for a week's stay, you really don't need one. There is so much to do in the village itself with it's local cafe's, mini supermarket and bars. In addition, the Kayaking is a must. It was a truly wonderful experience and a great way to take in the stunning scenery. We even spotted a family of otters and a lonesome terrapin on the river bank.
We will definitely be returning to Le Guet and feel very lucky to have found such a hidden gem!!

Dr Manfred N 10 June 2014,

We have just had 2 weeks in the beautiful Village of Roquebrun and it is exactly that, just a lovely village. To compliment the Village, we were lucky enough to stay at Le Guet. We can totally understand why Gillian and Chris invested in Roquebrun as the character of Le Guet certainly fits in with the Village and is so relaxing and peaceful. We just want to thank you very much Gillian and Chris for allowing us to share your beautiful home. It is just so nice with everything that you need and it is like being home away from home and has everything that you need. Gillian and Chris have certainly given a lot of thought in decorating Le Guet. We add that we did not use the cooking facilities as we enjoyed the local restaurants so much. To wake up in the morning and sit out on the "Grenier" (Balcony) and look over the picturesque Orb River, Bridge and Valley was surreal, and at the end of the day to sit out there and sip a nice Wine and Cheese certainly finished the day off so much. The information provided by Gillian and Chris prior to leaving home was so valuable and again in the folder in the home certainly made it easy to plan our time and to visit the main historical and cultural sites and the Restaurants in Roquebrun and surrounding area. We would just like to say that we highly recommend this beautiful house in the beautiful Roquebrun Village. To Gillian and Chris thank you again for allowing us to share Le Guet as we really appreciated it.

John C 20 September 2013,

This was actually our second summer in Le Guet. This time we stayed two weeks in the house, which is just as delightful as described. It is placed perfectly with the best view possible. It is exceptionally well equipped and has all what is needed to have an easy stay. Gillian and Chris have made a book with all kind of references to sightseeing, shopping, outdoor, restaurants etc. and have been very helpful in all possible ways.
We were there with our two kids and spend a lot of time swimming in the Orb River and used the great option of rafting.
Roquebrun is placed so that it is possible to use it as a base for longer trips but also the surrounding area offers a lot with rafting, biking, wine tastings ect.
We certainly will recommend a stay in Le Guet to everyone who enjoys the quietness of a village, a great house and superb surroundings.

RKT June 03 2013,

We stayed in roquebrun during a business trip and decided to commute to sete which was just over an hours drive. The journey each day was well worth it just to come back to Le Guet each night.
This is a delightful village house and is perfectly situated within walking distance to the village and local restaurants and bar. The views from the grenier are stunning (seeing truly is believing) . The owners have tastefully restored and decorated it and have equipped it with all the essentials. The shower rooms are beautiful and there are some lovely pieces of furniture that give that finishing touch.
We would definitely recommend Le Guet and we will certainly be returning to roquebrun in the near future and hope to visit this house again soon.

Clare L March 11 2013,

Mme T July 28 2012,

Thank you Gillian for making our stay so fantastic.
The house was lovely, the website photos do not do it justice... especially with the amazing view from the grenier! We ate dinner up there nearly every evening, the spiral staircase definitely keep you fit!
The house was very clean, comfortable, well equipped and had everything we needed. The showers were great.
We collected our fresh bread and croissants from the "orangerie" every morning.
Roquebrun itself is a very pretty village, with several nice restaurants, local friendly store, kayaking and lovely riverside beach with Roquebrun as the backdrop.
We would definitely recommend 'Le Guet' to friends and family.

Andrew S,

We spent a most enjoyable week at Le Guet in June 2012.
On the fringe of the Haut Languedoc National Park and on the Orb River, Roquebrun has a stunning situation with lovely scenery all around. The village itself is charming with adequate facilities and everything else not far away. We enjoyed exploring the local area, did a number of walks and swam in the river at Roquebrun and nearby Ceps.
Le Guet was exactly as described by the owners. On three levels, it provided very comfortable accommodation, furnished in tune with the local area. We particularly enjoyed the grenier with its magnificent views. Walking up the hill to the house and up and down the spiral staircase helped keep us fit!
The house was very well-maintained and the best equipped we have ever rented. The information provided about the house and district was first class. Communication with the owners was a pleasure and we found them more than helpful.

After a trip to Roquebrun in 2010, the town stole my heart, and so for my second visit I chose to stay at Le Guet.
What a delight! The house was just as described, and the eponymous "lookout" has to be seen to be believed. It was a perfect base from which to enjoy Roquebrun and the surrounding area, including some lovely beaches only 45mins drive away.
Gillian and Chris were extremely organised and helpful, and all the directions/resources they provided made everything easy.
My only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. I'll be back!

Matthew O June 2 2012,

Location, location, location ... with the added benefits of authentic and sympathetic decor.
The house is charming, comfortable and stylish, everything you could ask for is at your fingertips making you feel you have anything you need at hand.
The views are stunning and we ate, drank and watched the world from the privacy and seclusion of our "look out".
Roquebrun is a great village with charming locals and intelligent tourists. It is a fabulous base from which to visit the region.
The restaurants offer good honest food and the local vineyards are well worth a few "degustations".
We visited the area last year and felt we had to return and chose Le Guet as our base which was perfect for us.
The walk up and down the hill helped us feel less guilty about the pain au raisin and chocolats we consumed each morning. All worth it for the views and the gorgeous surroundings.
Chris and Gillian were great hosts offering information and help as requested (promptly too).

Steven P August 14 2011,

We stayed in Le Guet for a week in June and we had a fantastic time. We had four adults staying in the two bedrooms, the middle has a nice double bed and the upstairs has two singles, and each room has an adjacent bathroom, both of which are very nicely kept. The house is clearly well looked after and has wireless internet and British TV if you wish to use them.
That said the village of Roquebrun itself is so beautiful that you probably won't want to spend too much time indoors. There are couple of small shops and restaurants here and a large supermarket about 15 minutes drive away. Being in the Haut-Languedoc national park, the scenery all around is stunningly beautiful and if you are looking for a holiday in the relaxing tranquility of rural France then this is perfect, especially with a couple of cities and the sea being only a short drive away.
Lastly, I will say that Chris and Gillian are a pleasure to deal with. They gave us many recommendations of things to see and do in the area and where very friendly and accommodating of our stay. The bottle of wine they left for us was a particularly nice, and unexpected, touch.
Finally, I will finish with the best part about this property, and that is the view from balcony on the top floor. The picture doesn't do it justice, and so whether it's waking up to this view or drinking a bottle of wine in the evening it truly makes Le Guet a stunning place for a holiday.

Le Guet on arrival was such a wonderful surprise. It was more than we could have hoped for in a holiday home. Gillian and Chris have made this holiday home so homely and it contains everything anyone could need tomake a stay perfect.
Ther were even binoculars in the The Guet overlooking the river Orb. Waking up every morning to the sound of the water running under the bridge and over the weir was magical.
We ate meals in the top room off the bedroom each evening over looking Roquebrun, mountians, woods and the river.
The home is decorated with taste and great care.
Roquebrun is a small village and we stayed in March when the weather had started to warm up. It has 2 caves selling delicious wine and one serves an excellent tapas. There is a bar and supermarket a short walk from Le Guet.
We had an amazing time and would like to thank Gillian and Chris for making our stay so good. We all have fallen in love with Le Guet and will be coming back.
The home is a short walk up a steep hill.
